I combined business with pleasure and set off <strong>for a language course in Barbados<\/strong>. How did I spend these three weeks?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6506edb elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6506edb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What does a bad Friday in Barbados and an evening in Oistins look like?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e19c99f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e19c99f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-path-to-node=\"1\">The thirteenth day in Barbados was supposed to be about wilderness, but it ended up being a lesson in <strong>Caribbean patience<\/strong>. I planned to visit the Wildlife Reserve, but time passes a little differently here than we are used to in Europe.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6b8f99d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6b8f99d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">When plans fall apart<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d692b31 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d692b31\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">It all started in the morning at the language school, where the lesson unexpectedly dragged on. Even though I had my itinerary planned out to the last second, Barbados quickly explained to me that <strong>precise timing is a rather abstract concept here<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=\"4\">Besides, rush hour traffic turned out to be a pain. Although I caught a connection to Speighstown from the Princess Alice terminal quite quickly, the journey dragged on for an interminable time. However, I still believed that I would make it to the Wildlife reserve on the other side of the island.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=\"5\">Once I arrived in Speighstown, I found a shared taxi and hoped for a quick departure. But neither <strong>After fifteen minutes the car did not move from the spot<\/strong>, so I just gave up and changed my plan. I got out of the car again, looked at the map to see what was near the station and headed to the beach. The beach at Speighstown was fantastic \u2013 <strong>clear water, fine sand and almost no people<\/strong>, which is always a bonus for traveling around the island.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=\"10\">After a few hours I took the bus back to Oistins. The journey takes about an hour. I know it already, I&#039;ve been there a few times. The good thing is that it&#039;s a direct connection and the bus is air-conditioned.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8d9bf2c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8d9bf2c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Legendary fish cakes and rum punch in Oistins<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f3adb2e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f3adb2e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-path-to-node=\"13\">Fridays in Oistins are simply an experience that is an integral part of a Barbados holiday. This time I played it safe. My first trip led straight to the stand at &quot;\u201e<strong>Legendary Fishcakes<\/strong>\u201c&quot; \u2013 they are cheap, slightly spicy and completely addictive.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=\"14\">It didn&#039;t take long before I ended up at a magnet stand. They were much cheaper here than in the touristy St. Lawrence Gap, so I picked up a few as gifts.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=\"15\">I spent the whole evening explaining to the locals <strong>rum punch<\/strong>. It&#039;s sweet, fruity, but you can smell the rum in it so damn well. It&#039;s easy to drink on its own, and after a few glasses, you&#039;ll stop resenting that failed trip to the reservation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4f55764 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\"
